DICKINSON, ND (trfnews.i234.me) — A tense standoff unfolded in Dickinson when a man allegedly threatened his neighbor with a handgun, prompting a full-scale response from the Southwest Tactical SWAT Team.
The Dickinson Police Department reported that the incident began around 7:15 p.m. when a man called 911 claiming that Joshua Russell, a neighbor from across the street, broke into his home. According to the caller, Russell pointed a handgun at him, pushed him to the ground, and threatened his life. The suspect then searched the caller’s basement, stating he was “looking for someone” before fleeing the scene.
The situation escalated quickly, leading to the activation of the Southwest Tactical Team and the Southwest Crisis Negotiations Team. Officers established a perimeter around Russell’s home, and after making contact with him, the suspect surrendered peacefully at approximately 9:00 p.m.
A search warrant for Russell’s residence revealed multiple firearms and an active marijuana grow operation.
Russell now faces a series of serious charges, including Burglary at Night (Class B Felony), Terrorizing with a Dangerous Weapon, Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Trespass of a Dwelling, and Manufacturing a Controlled Substance (Class C Felonies).
His initial court appearance took place in Stark County, and he is scheduled to return on October 21st for further proceedings.
