Stutsman County (trfnews.i234.me) – Authorities have identified the woman who died in a rollover crash at Stink Lake on Saturday, July 26.
The victim is 67-year-old Rita Kubat of Jamestown, North Dakota.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a preliminary investigation shows Kubat was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry on 65th Avenue NE, also known as Old US Highway 281, when the vehicle entered the west ditch.
The car rolled over large rocks before coming to rest upside down in Stink Lake. Kubat was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers reported she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. However, it has not been confirmed if the seatbelt was in use earlier in the trip.
Emergency crews responded to the submerged vehicle after receiving a call at approximately midday. No other passengers were reported in the car.
Authorities say the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
