Stutsman County (trfnews.i234.me)An inmate at the James River Correctional Center in Jamestown is facing additional felony charges after allegedly assaulting another inmate with a makeshift weapon.

According to court records, Benjamin Joseph Capistran placed a tablet inside a mesh laundry bag and struck another inmate over the head. The victim fell to the floor and attempted to shield himself with his arms, but Capistran continued the assault while the victim was on the ground. The injured inmate was transported to the emergency room and treated for multiple fractures to his face and skull.

Before the attack, Capistran was observed standing in the corner of the dormitory with a blank stare. Other inmates inquired about his well-being, to which he responded that he was fine.
