Stutsman Co. Motorcycle Crash Leaves Rider Injured
Stutsman County (trfnews.i234.me) — A serious injury crash involving a motorcycle and pickup occurred in Jamestown just before 6 p.m. on Friday.
According to police, the collision happened at the intersection of 8th Avenue Northeast and 13th Street Northeast. The North Dakota Highway Patrol was first on scene and began rendering aid to the injured rider.
The motorcycle, a 2010 Honda, was driven by a 24-year-old Jamestown man. He was taken by ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Fargo for further treatment. Authorities report he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The other vehicle involved was a 1993 Ford Ranger, driven by a juvenile from Jamestown. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. According to the initial investigation, the Ford Ranger had stopped at a stop sign before entering the intersection. The pickup then struck the motorcycle, which slid across the roadway on its left side before coming to rest.
The driver of the Ford Ranger told officers they did not see the oncoming motorcycle and believed the intersection was clear. That driver has been cited for failure to yield after stopping.
Jamestown Police, the North Dakota Highway Patrol, and Jamestown Area Ambulance all assisted at the scene. For more information on motorcycle safety and helmet use, see the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
