Straight River Township: Dodge Strikes Ford on Highway 71

Straight River Township (trfnews.i234.me) – On December 12, 2025, at 3:30 PM, a crash occurred on Highway 71 near 110th Street in Straight River Township, Hubbard County. A 2013 Dodge Ram 1500, driven by 18-year-old Colin Lee Becker of Park Rapids, MN, made contact with a 2015 Ford Transit van, driven by 73-year-old Felix William Ness of Menahga, MN, while both vehicles were traveling northbound on Highway 71.

The collision resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to Ness, the driver of the Ford Transit, and his passengers, 9-year-old Jake Wesley-Allyn Gebhart and 9-year-old Connor Jason Kiser, both of Park Rapids, MN. All three were wearing seat belts and were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment. Becker, the driver of the Dodge Ram, was also wearing his seat belt and was uninjured in the crash.

The road conditions at the time were snow-covered and icy, contributing to the accident. Park Rapids Fire Department, Park Rapids Police Department, and Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
