Stop Sign Ignored: Three Hospitalized in Itasca County Collision – trfnews.i234.me

Itasca County, MN (trfnews.i234.me)On Saturday, May 24, 2025, at approximately 11:46 PM, a serious two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 65 and County Road 56 in Northeast Itasca Unorganized Township. A 2018 Ford Explorer traveling eastbound on County Road 56 failed to stop at a posted stop sign, colliding with a 2012 GMC Sierra heading northbound on Highway 65.

The GMC Sierra, driven by 18-year-old Maddoux Isiah Erickson of Pengilly, MN, had one passenger, 20-year-old Colton Ray Damyanovich of Hibbing, MN. Both individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Hibbing Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Ford Explorer, 62-year-old David Bruce Tiovola of Hibbing, MN, also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Hibbing Hospital. All parties were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The involvement of alcohol is currently unknown.

Emergency response teams from Nashwauk and Hibbing Ambulance, Nashwauk Fire Department, Itasca County Sheriff’s Office, and Keewatin Police Department assisted at the scene.
