ST. HILAIRE, MINN. A St. Hilaire man has been cited and arrested following a reported crash investigation in the area of Pennington Avenue and 150th Street Northeast.

According to the sheriff’s office, the call came in at 2:04 p.m. on Dec. 21.

What the report says

The citation states another motorist reported a vehicle driving erratically. The vehicle reportedly passed the motorist, struck two snowbanks, and continued at a high rate of speed.

A police sergeant later located the suspect vehicle in a ditch near 158th Street Northeast and Kendall Avenue, according to the citation.

Driver cited and arrested

Ethan Alexander Johnson, 27, of St. Hilaire, has been cited for:

  • DWI — under the influence
  • Open bottle

He was arrested, according to the report.

The citation indicated that a blood alcohol content number was not available.

Passenger and open bottle detail

The citation says a female passenger remained inside the vehicle. When the door was opened, an officer allegedly observed an open bottle of vodka on the floor.

When asked, the passenger allegedly said both she and Johnson had been drinking. The report says Johnson denied drinking alcohol.

Probation notification

The report states that both Johnson and the passenger are on probation. Their probation agent was notified.

It was unclear from the report whether the passenger would face new charges related to this incident.
