SPRINGFIELD TWP, Cottonwood County (trfnews.i234.me) – A vehicle struck a deer Thursday night, injuring both the driver and passenger near 390th Avenue on Highway 62 in southern Minnesota.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2020 Chevy Silverado was heading westbound when it hit a deer around 9:31 p.m. on June 5, 2025. The vehicle was operated by 43-year-old Ilich Isaias Calderon of Brewster, MN. He and his passenger, 40-year-old Maria Magdalen Talavera, also of Brewster, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Both were transported to Windom Hospital for treatment. Neither airbag deployed, but both individuals were wearing seat belts. Alcohol was not involved, and road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.

Assisting at the scene were the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office and Heron Lake Ambulance.
