Southern Minnesota Bus Crash: 9 Students Injured in Shocking Intersection Collision

WELCOME, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) – In a heart-stopping moment that has left many shaken, nine students were injured Wednesday morning in southern Minnesota when a truck crashed into their bus. The shocking incident occurred at 8:15 a.m. in Welcome, where the vehicle carrying schoolchildren collided with an F550 truck traveling north on County Road 7.

According to officials from the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened after the bus driver failed to yield to the truck, which had the right-of-way at the intersection of County Road 7 and 280th Street. The initial investigation suggests that this critical error led to the collision.

Miraculously, despite the severity of the crash, only nine students sustained minor injuries in the accident. They were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Thankfully, no serious harm was inflicted on either the bus driver or the truck’s occupants during the incident.

The Wabasso Public School District has released a statement expressing gratitude that more severe consequences did not unfold from this tragic event. Superintendent Jon Fulton expressed his concern and well-wishes in a letter to parents: “We are grateful that no serious injuries happened to our students, the driver or the other driver… The District and 4.0 bus transportation company is praying for a speedy recovery for the students and families involved.”
