SOUTH ST. PAUL, MN: 72-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot in Apartment; Roommate Charged with Murder

SOUTH ST. PAUL, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — On the evening of April 11, South St. Paul police responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment located at the northwest corner of Thompson Avenue and 12th Avenue North. Upon arrival, officers discovered 72-year-old Michael Maurice Schille deceased from an apparent gunshot wound inside his residence.

Authorities took 36-year-old Jacob John Audie of Hudson, Wisconsin, into custody at the scene. Audie, who identified himself as Schille’s roommate of one to two years, allegedly admitted to shooting Schille with the victim’s own AR-15 rifle. He has been charged with second-degree murder and is currently held on a $750,000 conditional bail or $1 million without conditions.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Schille’s identity and determined the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head.
