SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP, MINNESOTA (trfnews.i234.me) – A devastating crash occurred Wednesday at 3:58 p.m. in Lake County inside the Lafayette Bluff Tunnel on Highway 61.

A 2005 Daimler Chrysler Sprinter van, driven by Patches Magickbeans, 34, of Milwaukee, entered a closed construction lane in a single-lane zone, struck multiple orange barrels, and smashed into a scissor lift. Two workers were in the lift at the time.

One worker, Benjamin John Kidd, 27, of Duluth, suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Essentia. The other worker, Bradley Nicholas Kostiuk, 37, also of Duluth, was able to grab a ceiling fixture and avoid falling but sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The van’s driver was not wearing a seat belt and also sustained life-threatening injuries. The crash scene involved emergency response from Lake County and MnDOT.

I’m Chris Harper reporting for TRF News.
