Major, Bizarre Weather Damage To Resort Lodge's Cabins On Lake Bemidji, Minnesota
LAKE BEMIIDJI, MN (trfnews.i234.me) We had mmaajor damage to cabins at Rutgers Lodge on Lake Bemidji, Minnesota Saturday afternoon. Wind piled up ice on shore damaging 6 cabins.
Not a good place to stay. In winter, the rooms are friggin cold, with no assistance from management
I had one of my cabins at my resort get smashed up 6 years ago. This year is brutal because of all the rain last fall and snow this winter the water levels on the lakes rose quite a bit. Also, cooler temps had most of the snow melting without warming the frost in the ground so the snowmelt runoff went into the lakes and rivers. I lucked out again and the wind was blowing from the south so it blew the ice off the lake on the north side lol.
I went to Bemidji State U and know these cabins. Northern Minnesota can be unforgiving with cold, ice & snow. A place for Eskimos 😁
This has happened at some Minnesota Lakes with cabins or houses by the shoreline. Your homeowners insurance should cover the damage but not always the case!
Oh wow!
This is neither bizarre or unusual. It happens nearly every year and is caused by strong winds blowing over the surface of the ice, which then gets pushed on to the shore in great heaps. Any structure close to shore is usually heavily damaged or destroyed and the ice can move several hundreds of yards inland.
Wow! That’s so sad. Hope they can be repaired.
That darn global warming, again.
Sad
The same thing happened on Lake Erie a couple years ago
That's what insurance is for. Built too close to the lake…before all the bi laws were passed.
Bizarre…yep because it’s in Bemidji and doesn’t pertain to Ridgeway apartments or meth😉
How is this bizarre? The wind came up and blew ice on shore…happens every year
Bazaar? Have you been to Mille Lacs?
old man winter just can't let it go – has to get in some more mean hits.
Global warming what a Bitch.
