COACHELLA, Calif. (trfnews.i234.me) – A 49-year-old man from Nevada was arrested Saturday night outside former President Donald Trump’s rally in the Southern California desert after deputies found a shotgun and loaded handgun with ammunition in his vehicle. The suspect, who was driving a black SUV, was stopped at a security checkpoint assigned to the event.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the man was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing a loaded firearm and possession of a high-capacity magazine. He was released Saturday on $5,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on January 2, 2025.

The incident did not impact the safety of former President Trump or attendees at the event, authorities said. The security checkpoint, which included K-9 searches of vehicles, was part of a multi-layered approach to ensure public safety during the rally.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco planned an afternoon news conference to discuss the arrest and provide further details on the incident.
