Oklee, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — A quiet Thursday night turned chaotic in Oklee after an intense assault and standoff rattled this Red Lake County community. According to Sheriff Mitch Bernstein, a 911 call came in from a man claiming he had just been violently assaulted outside an apartment building.
Emergency responders from Oklee and deputies from the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office raced to the scene, joined by the Fosston ambulance crew. The victim was transported to the ER at Essentia Hospital in Fosston with severe facial injuries.
Deputies quickly identified the suspect as 35-year-old Shawn Alvin Lossing of Oklee. When they arrived at his residence, he had barricaded himself inside and refused to come out or communicate.
A tense two-hour standoff followed, ending only when Lossing finally surrendered peacefully. He was arrested and transported to the Crookston jail, where he was booked on felony assault charges. The Minnesota State Patrol also assisted at the scene.
