Shocking Officer-Involved Shooting in Polk County After High-Speed Chase

Polk County (trfnews.i234.me)—A high-speed vehicle pursuit in rural northwest Minnesota escalated into an officer-involved shooting on Monday morning, April 7. The incident began shortly after 10 a.m. when law enforcement initiated a chase that concluded on County Road 9, west of the intersection with County Road 16 in Fischer Township.

Upon the pursuit’s conclusion, an officer discharged their weapon, striking the suspect driver—the sole occupant of the vehicle. Authorities confirmed that the suspect sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota, for treatment.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has taken charge of the investigation and is currently processing the scene. Officials have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat.

As the investigation proceeds, County Road 9 between 350th Avenue Southwest and 360th Avenue Southwest remains closed to all traffic and is expected to stay shut down for most of the day. The public is advised to avoid the area.

Multiple agencies responded to the incident, including the Crookston Police Department, United States Border Patrol, Minnesota State Patrol, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, and Crookston Area Ambulance.

Further details, including the identity of the suspect and the initial reason for the pursuit, have not yet been released. Updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
