Shocking High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Officer-Involved Shooting in Polk County

Polk County (trfnews.i234.me)— A dramatic high-speed chase involving a suspected border jumper culminated in an officer-involved shooting on Monday morning, April 7, 2025. The incident unfolded west of Crookston, Minnesota, leaving the suspect hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit began when authorities received reports of a vehicle illegally crossing the U.S.-Canada border. The suspect’s vehicle was observed traveling at speeds ranging from 80 to 125 mph as it raced through Crookston and continued westward on County Road 9, also known as the KT Road. The chase concluded approximately five miles west of Crookston, near the intersection of County Road 9 and 350th Avenue SW, around 10:07 a.m.

Upon the pursuit’s termination, an officer discharged their weapon, striking the driver—the sole occupant of the vehicle. The suspect was promptly transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota, with injuries deemed non-life-threatening. The identity of the suspect has not been released at this time.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has been contacted and is responding to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. Authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat. However, County Road 9 between 350th Avenue SW and 360th Avenue SW remains closed to facilitate the investigation. Motorists are advised to avoid the area, as the closure is expected to last most of the day.

Multiple agencies collaborated in responding to this incident, including the Crookston Police Department, U.S. Border Patrol, Minnesota State Patrol, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, and Crookston Area Ambulance. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
