Eveleth (trfnews.i234.me)In a startling incident on Friday morning, the facade of the historic Essling Apartments at the corner of Adams Avenue and Jones Street in Eveleth, Minnesota, collapsed, leading to the evacuation of residents and a significant emergency response.

The collapse occurred around 11:00 a.m., prompting immediate action from multiple fire departments, including those from Eveleth, Fayal Township, Gilbert, Mountain Iron, Central Lakes, Clinton, and Biwabik Township. Ambulance services from Eveleth and Biwabik were also on standby. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

Five residents have been displaced due to the incident and are receiving assistance from the Northland Chapter of the American Red Cross. The area surrounding the three-story building has been cordoned off, and streets are closed as a precautionary measure.

A structural engineer is set to assess the building to determine the cause of the facade’s failure and evaluate the overall integrity of the structure.
