Chisago County, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — In a startling incident early Thursday morning, April 10, 2025, 46-year-old inmate Donald Edmond Warner escaped from the Chisago County Jail in Center City, Minnesota, during a routine supervised trash duty. The escape prompted a swift and coordinated response from multiple law enforcement agencies.
Warner, who was awaiting trial for first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges related to alleged assaults in 2010 and 2017, was reported missing around 1:30 a.m. Authorities launched an extensive search, and by approximately 3:10 a.m., Warner was located about a mile from the facility and taken back into custody without incident.
The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office has initiated an internal review to determine how Warner managed to escape during the supervised duty and to implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Warner’s charges stem from DNA evidence that allegedly connects him to a sexual assault in 2010 and an attempted sexual assault in 2017. He was arrested in 2023 after law enforcement recovered a discarded cigarette butt, which matched DNA evidence in the two cases. FOX 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul
Additional charges related to the escape are expected to be filed against Warner.
