SPIRIT LAKE NATION, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A deeply unsettling incident unfolded Sunday night on the Spirit Lake Nation in North Dakota when a passerby discovered a young child, estimated to be around two years old, alone on a remote gravel road near Fort Totten. The witness, who was driving through the area around 9:00 PM, found the toddler crouched in the middle of the road, digging in the dirt and eating rocks.
Concerned for the child’s well-being, the woman stopped, cleaned up the dirty child, and immediately contacted local authorities. Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) police responded to the scene and took the child into custody. However, the witness was left in the dark about the child’s fate as follow-up attempts to reach social services and the BIA yielded no further information. The case has raised concerns about the child’s welfare, and there has been no official statement from the BIA.
