Crookston, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday afternoon when a vehicle crashed into a tree near the South Broadway Bridge in Crookston. The driver, identified as 68-year-old John Nimmons of Crookston, was operating a 2006 Chevy Malibu traveling north on South Broadway. For reasons currently under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on the riverbank.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene at approximately 3:41 p.m. Nimmons was transported to RiverView Health, where he was pronounced deceased. The Crookston Police Department, led by Chief Darren Seller, is actively investigating the cause of the accident. No further information is available at this time.
