Underwood, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A sixth-grade teacher in Otter Tail County is facing serious charges after a disturbing incident during a school lockdown drill.

According to court documents, Jason Rogers, a 350-pound teacher at Underwood School, allegedly stepped on the back of a sixth-grade student with both feet for about 10 seconds during a drill on February 10. The student, who was lying face-down, reported pain and began crying after the incident.

Rogers admitted he told the students he could step on them if they didn’t take the drill seriously and confirmed stepping on at least three students—one with both feet, another while walking over him. Deputies were called to Lake Region Hospital, and Rogers was later charged with malicious punishment of a child, a gross misdemeanor carrying up to 1 year in jail or $3,000 in fines.

He is currently on administrative leave, with a court appearance set for April 8.
