Shakopee, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — President Donald Trump publicly praised MyPillow founder Mike Lindell as Lindell campaigns for Minnesota governor.
Trump made the comment during a Dec. 19 rally in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Trump told the crowd Lindell “deserves to be governor of Minnesota.”
But Lindell says it was not a formal endorsement. Lindell told reporters he viewed it as a “shoutout,” not an official backing.
What Trump said
Trump described Lindell as someone who “suffered” over his election claims. Trump also praised Lindell’s loyalty and public fight over the 2020 election.
Video from the rally was livestreamed online, according to reporting by CBS Minnesota.

Lindell’s campaign and the 2026 race
Lindell launched his run earlier this month from his MyPillow factory in Shakopee. He is seeking the Republican nomination in the 2026 governor’s race.
Incumbent Gov. Tim Walz is running for re-election. Several Republicans are also in the race.
CBS Minnesota and other outlets have reported candidates include Lisa Demuth, Scott Jensen, Kristin Robbins, Kendall Qualls, and Chris Madel.
What happens next
Trump endorsements can shape GOP primaries. Lindell said he knows what a Trump endorsement looks like. He said those usually come as a clear written statement.
Voters will decide the GOP nominee in the 2026 primary. The general election follows later in 2026.
