Bemidji, Beltrami County – A dramatic arrest in Bemidji on Tuesday night was captured on video by a TRF News viewer, showing officers taking down Sha-lu Steeprock after he attempted to flee during a traffic stop.

Authorities say Steeprock was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for speeding when officers discovered he had an outstanding warrant. Upon attempting to take him into custody, Steeprock fled on foot, striking one officer in the face during the chase. Officers then tackled him to the ground and made the arrest.

During the confrontation, Steeprock was heard saying, “Jail is a tough place. I got to do what I got to do.”

Steeprock is now facing felony assault of a peace officer and a misdemeanor charge for fleeing on foot.
