Severe Flooding Impacting Neche, ND

PEMBINA COUNTY, ND (trfnews.i234.me) Many roads are closed and thousands of acres of farmland are under water today, as the Pembina River overflows its banks.
everyone Neil Berg here driving up by nichy North Dakota we have mile after mile of water help the farm fields along here the Femina river is spilling over nietzsche is along the Canadian border sixteen miles west of the Minnesota line got an itchy way back there in the background I will be up there in a minute didn’t give you a closer look at the Femina River at Mitch I’m still about two miles east of nichy there are all kinds of gravel roads around here underwater water spilling over this is all from the Pembina River around nichy it’s overflowed its banks so some dangerous driving conditions around here you find country roads underwater all over in this area water stretches for miles going east of nichy all right we’ll head into the town of Mitchell now and take a look at the Femina River that’s causing all these problems well I guess I won’t be going into the city of nichy that’s it right behind that the trees back there the road going into town is it’s closed it’s under water it’s a barricaded at the other end the city person or emergency personnel on that end however the actual city of nichy is protected by a levee system but roads all over the area here in Pembina County are under water today the you Pembina River here at nichy I just talked to the National Weather Service and they’re saying is bobbing up and down fluctuating quite a bit because of debris and ice jams however it has fallen The Weather Service says the river has fallen at wahala farther upstream by about a foot however it’s expected to stay around this level here at nichy for the next few days as all this water moves through the Pembina River takes a large amount of water from southern Manitoba which is all just starting to melt now makes its way down into North Dakota through the Pembina River and over to the city of Pembina where it dumps into the Red River yeah I think they’ve said the dike is I think there’s a lot of Gophers at a major home but but you’re not getting any water in town yet so a lot of a lot of different roads around here closed I think they’re on a County 55 they’ve got the okay all right schools down there but got to be a little careful driving around here today yeah a little bit so if you’re driving anywhere in northeastern North Dakota over the next few days you’re gonna need to be careful while some main highways and such are marked as closed if you’re driving out in the country on gravel roads you never know when you’re gonna come up over the hill and run through a find a road that’s underwater so you’re use asked to use extreme caution driving around northeastern North Dakota also those ditches are full so itself to be ten feet deep if you hit the ditch you’re gonna be in trouble in Pembina County I’m Neil Berg reporting for IU’s TV
