The school board of Independent School District #561 met in regular session on Tuesday, August 16th at 6:30 p.m. in the community center. The following members were present: John Lovly, Tim Hruby, Stacy Anderson, Joe Rubischko, Neil Jensen and Leah Bothum. Absent: None. Also present: Superintendent Loberg, Principal Carlson, Business Manager Kelsie Steiger-Krein.
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Lovly. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
ICS staff facilitated a long-range facilities planning session with the school board members and administration.
A motion was made by Jensen, seconded by Hruby to approve the August 16th, 2022 agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Bothum, seconded by Lovly to approve the minutes of the July 19th, 2022 regular meeting as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Jensen, seconded by Lovly to approve the payment checks #44131-44251 and wire
payments as listed in report #3.1 A, B & C. Motion carried unanimously.
Financial reports were reviewed. Superintendent Loberg reported the district shows an investment balance of $1,676,208.25 on July 31, 2022. (see reports #3.2-3.6 attached to the official board minutes).

Student Council Report: None.
Goodridge Education Association Report: None.
Classified Staff Report: None.
Instructional Reports: None.
Old Business: Superintendent Loberg provided the board with an update on the summer projects.
New Business: A motion was made by Bothum, seconded by Jensen to approve the Purchase of Service Agreement for the Transportation of Children and Youth in Foster Care Placement as presented in report #8.1. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Hruby, seconded by Anderson to approve Superintendent Loberg as the Designated Identified Official. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Bothum, seconded by Jensen to review the mandatory MSBA policies: 506 – Student Discipline, 722 – Public Data Requests, and 806 – Crisis Management Policy.Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Hruby, seconded by Rubischko to approve the six regular bus routes and one van route as presented for the 2022-2023 school year, with authority given to administration to make changes in the best interest of the district. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Jensen, seconded by Bothum to increase the substitute teacher rate to $125 per day, effective the 2022-23 school year.
A motion was made by Anderson, seconded by Lovly to approve the quote from Northwest Roofing for roof repair to the elementary wing roof for the approximate amount of $13,649.07 as presented in report #8.6. Motion carried unanimously.
Personnel: A motion was made by Hruby, seconded by Jensen to approve the resignation of Jennifer Dahlgren, Elementary Special Education Teacher (see report #9.1). Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Bothum, seconded by Rubischko to approve the transfer of Vivian Coan from part-time cleaner to para (see report #9.2). Motion carried unanimously.
Trustee Reports: Hruby updated the board on the most recent NWRIC board meeting.
Open Forum: Bothum reported that she received a compliment from a staff member on how clean her classroom was when she returned to school. Jensen commented that the facilities were looking good for upcoming school year.
Administrative Reports: Principal Carlson updated the board on the upcoming open house, staff workshop
schedule, enrollment numbers, open positions, and the preschool numbers. Superintendent Loberg welcomed back the Students and Staff to the 2022-23 school year. Superintendent Loberg also provided the board with a fall sports update, Community Ed update, Long Range District Facility Planning and the future listening sessions with staff, students, and community members.
The next regular meeting was set for Tuesday September 20, 2022 at 8:00 p.m.
