Community Center
The school board of Independent School District #561 met in regular session on Tuesday, April 19th at 7:00 p.m. in the community center. The following members were present: John Lovly, Stacy Anderson, Joe Rubischko, Neil Jensen and Leah Bothum, Tim Hruby. Also present: Superintendent Loberg, Principal Carlson, Business Manager Kelsie Steiger-Krein, and GEA representative Mr. Mickelson.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Lovly, The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
A motion was made by Jensen, seconded by Hruby to approve the April 19, 2022 agenda as amended. Motion carried unanimously.
Representatives from Ehlers Public Finance Advisors provided the board with a financial presentation (presentation is attached to the official board minutes).
A motion was made by Bothum, seconded by Anderson to approve the minutes of the March 15, 2022 regular meeting as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Bothum, seconded by Lovly to approve the payment checks #43803-43917 and wire payments as listed in report #3.1 A & B, as listed in report #3.1.1. Motion carried unanimously.
Financial reports were reviewed. Superintendent Loberg reported the district shows an investment balance of $1,734,945.44 on March 31, 2022. (see reports #3.2-3.6 attached to the official board minutes).
Patron Concerns: None.
Student Council Report: None.
Goodridge Education Association Report: Mr. Mickelson reported on the Elementary Program, the upcoming play and the high school music concert scheduled for April 28th.
Classified Staff Report: None.
Instructional Reports: Principal Carlson provided an update on the master schedule update, PSEO, and presented the 2022-2023 Academic Calendar.
A motion was made by Hruby, seconded by Joe Rubischko to approve the school year 2022-2023 academic calendar as presented in report #6.3. Motion carried unanimously.
Old Business: Superintendent Loberg reported on tentative future and summer projects.
New Business: None
Personnel: A motion was made by Jensen, seconded by Anderson to accept the resignation of Alice Sather, Special Education Teacher. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Hruby, seconded by Rubischko to accept the resignation of Shelly Suronen, part-time cleaner. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Jensen, seconded by Lovly to accept the resignation of Eric Mickelson, K-12 Music Teacher. Motion carried unanimously.
Donations: A motion was made by Anderon, seconded by Bothum to accept the donations as listed in report
#10.1. Motion carried unanimously.
Trustee Reports: Tim Hruby reported at the last NWRIC meeting they have currently hired a director and are currently looking for an Assistant Director.
Open Forum: Member Rubischko complimented the music program. Member Jensen complimented the music program and congratulated Principal Carlson on her NW Division High School Principal of the Year award.
Administrative Reports: Principal Carlson reported on plans for the 6th grade trip, the upcoming junior/senior prom, and graduation plans.
Superintendent Loberg reported the Joint Fall and Winter Sports Banquet is scheduled for Monday May 9th in Grygla at 6:00PM. Superintendent Loberg provided a school year update and an update on summer activities and programming.
The next regular meeting was set for Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 8:00 p.m.
The meeting adjourned at 9:25 p.m.
