Savage (trfnews.i234.me) – A devastating crash in Scott County claimed the life of 54-year-old David Lawrence Sampson, of Prior Lake, after his motorcycle collided with a car Thursday afternoon.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the collision occurred at 1:48 p.m. at the intersection of southbound Highway 13 and McColl Drive in Savage. Sampson was riding a 1999 Victory motorcycle southbound when a Hyundai Elantra, driven by a 19-year-old Shakopee woman, entered the intersection eastbound.

Troopers say Sampson was not wearing a helmet, and he died from injuries sustained in the crash. The car’s driver was uninjured, showed no signs of impairment, and was wearing a seatbelt.

The roadway was dry at the time, and the State Patrol is continuing its investigation to determine the cause. Whether speed or other factors played a role remains unclear.
