Otter Tail County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Rothsay man, Taylor Jeffrey-Dennis Steiner, age 44, is facing a trio of gross misdemeanor charges after allegedly fleeing a crash scene, lying to police, and driving on a canceled license.
On June 25, 2025, Fergus Falls Police responded to a crash at Burlington and Vernon Avenue. Witnesses say Steiner’s vehicle struck another car, spun it around, then fled northbound. The victims reported pain and bruising, and their vehicle required towing.
Later, a witness at Invision Eye Care reported seeing a vehicle matching the suspect’s pull in, where a man removed a damaged bumper and left. Video confirmed the incident.
Police soon located the vehicle, and the driver falsely identified himself as “Wade Steiner.” He was later confirmed to be Taylor Steiner, who admitted to being in a crash but claimed he fled because he “didn’t think it was that bad.”
Authorities discovered Steiner’s driver’s license was canceled as ‘inimical to public safety’.
He now faces the following charges:
-
Criminal Vehicular Operation – Bodily Harm – Leaving Scene
-
Driving After Cancellation – Inimical to Public Safety
-
Providing False Name and Date of Birth to Police
