ROSEAU, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A rural Minnesota daycare provider is facing criminal charges for allegedly assaulting a child in her care. Arrial M. Lovelace, 33, of rural Roseau, has been charged with felony third-degree assault of a victim under four and gross misdemeanor malicious punishment of a child.

According to the criminal complaint, on May 22, a deputy with the Roseau County Sheriff’s Department was informed by a social worker about a report from a parent alleging that Lovelace had assaulted their child the previous day. The victim, born in 2022, reportedly had injuries resembling an adult-sized handprint on the buttocks, with visible bruising.

The child’s mother stated that Lovelace claimed another child had hit her with a toy. However, during a phone interview, Lovelace admitted to spanking the child out of frustration. She later reiterated this admission at the Roseau Sheriff’s Office, explaining that she accidentally hit the child while trying to smack the child’s hand away during a diaper change.
