Roseau County Man Charged In Violent DV Attack

Roseau County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Roseau man is facing several felony charges after a violent domestic incident in rural Roseau.

According to a criminal complaint, the case began on November 29.
Roseau Dispatch received a 911 call from a woman who was screaming.
A man could be heard yelling in the background.
The call came from a rural location outside the city of Roseau.

Officers went to the scene and spoke with the female victim.
She told investigators that Damien Tuura had attacked her during an argument.
The complaint says she reported that Tuura slammed her head into a vehicle dashboard.
She also said he grabbed her by the hair while she was inside the vehicle.

The woman told officers the assault did not stop there.
She said Tuura punched her during the incident.
She also stated that he put his hands around her neck.
The complaint says she reported it was hard to breathe while this happened.
She also told investigators that Tuura threatened to kill her.

Prosecutors have now filed multiple charges against Damien Tuura.
He is charged with felony domestic assault by strangulation.
He also faces a felony count of threats of violence.
In addition, he is charged with misdemeanor domestic assault and misdemeanor assault.
All counts stem from the same reported incident in rural Roseau.

Domestic assault by strangulation is a serious felony under Minnesota law.
The charge can involve putting pressure on a person’s neck or throat.
