Thief River Falls – Rodney Halvorson of Thief River Falls, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at his home. He went home to Jesus surrounded by loving family.
Rodney Ronald Halvorson was born on March 21, 1931 in Viking, to Morris and Hannah (Hellquist) Halvorson. He was raised on the family farm until he left home to work on the Oregon Coast area.
He married Viola Ramsey on April 14, 1951. They later moved to Ogden, UT.
Rodney worked in an electric motor shop and later became a journeyman electrician.
Rodney and Viola had three children – Hal, Tricia, and Ronald. When their children were young, Rod and Vi made a decision to follow Jesus. They became involved in Full Gospel Business Mens Fellowship, the Ogden Rescue Mission, and the Christian House Ministry where they took in many people needing help and Jesus. Rod also started a protestant Sunday School at the Ogden Reform School for boys.
In later years Rod worked all over the world installing and overseeing the building of boarding bridges at airports. After the death of Vi he continued to work internationally.
On December 12, 1992 he married Yvonne Kent where he added four children, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to love. They enjoyed many years of fifth wheeling and traveling the country.
He loved Jesus and his family and left laughter and love wherever he went.
An informal family gathering will be held to honor Rodney, share memories, and comfort each other at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Community Church, Highway 1 East, Thief River Falls.
