Pine County (trfnews.i234.me) — Two people were hurt when a Freightliner semi jackknifed on northbound Interstate 35 near Rock Creek, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The crash occurred at 9:31 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, just north of Highway 70. The road conditions were listed as snow and ice.

What happened

The Minnesota State Patrol report says the 2025 Freightliner tractor semi was traveling northbound on Interstate 35 when the driver lost control. The truck jackknifed and struck the median cable barrier. The truck came to rest across both northbound lanes of traffic.

The crash blocked traffic and caused a significant disruption. No information was provided on how long the lanes were blocked. Alcohol was not involved in the crash, and seat belts were listed as worn by both individuals in the vehicle.

Driver and Passenger Identified

The driver of the Freightliner was identified as Purna Bahadur Subedi, 33, of Pickerington, Ohio. The report lists non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Welia Health Mora for treatment.

The passenger was identified as Kamal Gurung, 37, of Eria, Pennsylvania. The report also lists non-life-threatening injuries for him. He was taken to Welia Health Mora as well.

Response and recovery

Pine County Sheriff’s Office, Essentia Ambulance, and Rush City Fire assisted at the scene. The investigation into the cause of the jackknife is ongoing.
