FARGO, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) – On December 10, 2024, the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) was alerted by the Metro Street Crimes Unit to a vehicle on May Lane in Fargo that had previously evaded law enforcement.
Suspect Encounter and Attempted Escape
Upon arrival, troopers found 29-year-old Robert Peightal asleep in the passenger seat of the identified vehicle. When officers attempted to make contact, Peightal moved to the driver’s seat and fled the scene. Troopers’ efforts to contain the vehicle were unsuccessful, as Peightal maneuvered through a residential yard, nearly striking a pedestrian.
Apprehension
Approximately 15 minutes later, the Metro Street Crimes Unit located the vehicle in the rear parking lot of an apartment complex at 821 7th Ave N. Officers apprehended Peightal as he was walking away from the vehicle.
Investigation Findings
The vehicle was confirmed stolen from Fargo. Additionally, Peightal had three active warrants for his arrest in Cass County, North Dakota.
Charges Filed
Robert Peightal was booked into the Cass County Jail on the following charges:
- Felony reckless endangerment
- Felony fleeing in a motor vehicle
- Felony theft-possession of stolen property (motor vehicle)
- Felony possession of methamphetamine
- Misdemeanor driving under suspension
- Misdemeanor drug paraphernalia
- Misdemeanor possession of a reproduced license
