Richland County: Deer Crash Sparks Fiery Wreck on I-29 – 2024 Subaru Outback DESTROYED!

Richland County (trfnews.i234.me) — A shocking and unusual accident occurred early Monday morning along I-29 near mile post 23, just north of the South Dakota border. According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 5:39 a.m., a 2024 Subaru Outback traveling southbound struck a deer that suddenly jumped onto the roadway.

The driver, identified as Scott Michael Daignault, was unable to avoid the deer, resulting in a violent impact. Moments after the crash, the vehicle caught fire and was completely engulfed in flames, leading to a total loss.

Thankfully, Daignault was able to exit the burning vehicle safely and did not suffer any injuries. Morton Fire Department and ASI Ambulance responded promptly to the scene, alongside the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.
