RICE LAKE, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A residential fire occurred on Schultz Road in Rice Lake on Saturday, as reported by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.
The homeowner sustained burns to his hands and possible smoke inhalation.
After evacuating, he sought refuge with a neighbor. Emergency responders arrived to find the structure fully engulfed in flames.
The only other occupant, a dog, was later found deceased inside the residence.
The homeowner was conscious and alert before being transported to Essentia Health Duluth for treatment.
Authorities do not suspect foul play at this time.
