Redwood County: Three Injured in Highway 71 Collision Near Redwood Falls

Redwood Falls (trfnews.i234.me) — Three people, including a young child, were injured Friday evening following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 71 and County Road 1 in Redwood County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The crash occurred around 6:34 p.m. on October 10, 2025, when a 2010 Ford Fusion traveling eastbound on Highway 71 and a 2016 Chevy Silverado traveling northbound on County Road 1 collided after one vehicle failed to yield at the intersection.

Levi Christopher Stefansen, 21, of Bellview, was driving the Ford Fusion with two passengers — Mackenzie Rose Lothert, 19, and a 2-year-old girl. All three were transported to Redwood Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Silverado, 18-year-old Skyler James Yates of Springfield, and his passengers, Rebecca Lee Yates, 45, and Holly Agnes Merkel, 16, both of Fairfax, were not injured in the crash. Everyone involved was wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor, according to the report.

Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash. Assisting agencies included the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, Redwood Falls Police Department, and CentraCare Ambulance.

The Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the collision and reminds drivers to remain alert and yield appropriately at intersections to prevent serious injuries.
