Becker County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Lato Zane Aaron Estrella, 20, of Redding, California, has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony fourth-degree assault on a correctional officer and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Just after midnight on April 11, Detroit Lakes police responded to a report of an attempted break-in at a residence. They found Estrella at the front door with a half-empty bottle of vodka, appearing intoxicated. He ignored officers’ commands, leading to his handcuffing and placement in a squad vehicle. Estrella yelled obscenities and resisted arrest.
The frightened resident reported hearing someone trying to enter her home and called the police. She did not recognize Estrella.
At the Becker County Jail, Estrella kicked the squad vehicle doors, struggled, and was placed in a restraint chair. He managed to free an arm and banged on the wall. When corrections officers tried to restrain him, he clawed and attempted to bite an officer, causing deep cuts.
Estrella was released without bail on May 29 under conditions prohibiting alcohol, drugs, and contact with the victim or her residence. His next court appearance is on July 15.
