Thief River Falls, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – On April 23 at about 11:46 p.m., Curtis Paul Kingbird, 53, from Redby, was charged with second-degree DWI – two or more aggravating factors after a traffic stop near the intersection of Center Street East and 310th Avenue Northeast. Kingbird was arrested following a radar indication that he was traveling at 86 mph in a 60 mph zone. He claimed he was speeding due to his wife’s medical emergency. His wife, who suffered a head injury two weeks prior, complained of extreme head pain and knee swelling. The deputy called for an ambulance upon noticing Kingbird’s revoked driving privileges, slurred speech, and watery eyes. Kingbird failed field sobriety tests, with a preliminary breath test showing a 0.188 blood alcohol content. A subsequent test at the Law Enforcement Center yielded a 0.18 BAC. Court documents revealed Kingbird’s prior DWI convictions in April 2016 and September 2021.
