On 07/26/24, Anthony Randal Villebrun (45) of Ogema was cited for misdemeanor theft by check. On 07/07/24, Mr. Villebrun issued two checks to the Brooks Cenex for a total amount of $212.87. Mr. Villebrun’s checking account was not active at the time he issued these checks. He will be summonsed to appear in Court in Red Lake Falls in August of 2024.
On the afternoon of 07/26/24, Red Lake County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a Red Lake Falls residence. They discovered it was a verbal dispute between two parties and no crimes were committed. They mediated the incident and assisted with a child custody exchange.
On the afternoon of 07/26/24, Jared Lee Reinisch (39) of Grand Forks was cited for misdemeanor an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle on Bottineau Ave. in Red Lake Falls.
In the early morning hours of 07/27/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an extremely intoxicated individual, raising some concern at the street dance in Red Lake Falls. A Red Lake County deputy transported the individual back to their campsite at Voyageur’s View.
On the afternoon of 07/27/24, a Red Lake County deputy responded to a minor traffic collision at the intersection of 1st St. and Main Ave. in Red Lake Falls. A vehicle was stopped at a stop sign, and it was rear-ended by another vehicle. There was substantial damage to the vehicles, but nobody was injured. Kelly Ann Syverson (57) of Red Lake Falls was cited for having an expired driver’s license and Kimberly Shea Brown (48) of Thief River Falls was cited for failing to drive with due care.
Shortly after midnight on 07/28/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a request to check on the welfare of an individual who the reporter thought needed help. They claimed this individual may be somewhere in Brooks. The Sheriff’s Office later received information that person in question had returned to their residence, located in another county. A Red Lake County deputy spoke with that individual and they claimed they were fine, and no further law enforcement assistance was needed. Later that same morning, a Brooks resident reported damage to their vehicle. They claimed it was intentionally damaged by the individual whom the deputy was assisting earlier. That matter is still under investigation.
In the early morning hours of 07/28/24, two individuals reported they had just been assaulted while they were walking along a Red Lake Falls street. Red Lake County deputies responded to their location to render aid and began the investigation. Both of the victims sustained injuries, but they refused medical treatment at the scene. A number of suspects have been identified, but the matter remains under investigation at this time.
On the afternoon of 07/28/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft of property from a location along Hwy. #32 north of Red Lake Falls. That report is still under investigation.
On the evening of 07/28/24, the Oklee Fire Department, the Oklee Ambulance and Red Lake County deputies were dispatched to report that a garage was on fire in Oklee. The unattached garage at a residence along Main St. in Oklee was completely destroyed. Several other items of property, which were stored in garage, and a neighbor’s fence were also destroyed. Fortunately, nobody was injured, and fire crews were able to stop the fire from spreading to other nearby structures. The owner claimed they were welding inside the garage and sparks from the welder must have ignited the building.
On the evening of 07/29/24, a Red Lake County deputy arrested Sarah May Burthwick (35) of Red Lake Falls. Pennington County held an active warrant for her arrest. She posted $250 cash bail to satisfy the warrant and she was released from custody.
On the evening of 07/30/24, a Red Lake Falls resident reported they lost their cellphone somewhere in town. If anyone finds a cellphone in the city of Red Lake Falls, they can contact the Sheriff’s Office so it can be returned to the owner.
On the morning of 08/01/24, Vincent Frank Sutil (33) of Oklee was cited for speeding on CR. #49 west of Hwy. #59.
On the morning of 08/01/24, Red Lake County deputies arrested Chad Dean Stanford (45) of Plummer at his residence. He was taken to jail in Crookston and booked for felony criminal sexual conduct. It is alleged Mr. Stanford engaged in sexual acts, with a minor, over a period of approximately 2 ½ years. He made his initial court appearance in Crookston on 08/02/24, and he was ordered to pay $25,000 cash bail to be released from custody. At the time of this release, he is still in the Crookston jail and his next court appearance has been scheduled for 08/14/24 in Red Lake Falls.
On the morning of 08/02/24, Red Lake County deputies, the Red Lake Falls Ambulance Service, the Red Lake Falls Fire Department and Minnesota State Troopers were dispatched to a report of a collision involving a semi-truck and a golf cart. This collision occurred at the intersection of Main Ave. and 7th St. in Red Lake Falls. The golf cart was driven by an adult female, and she was transported to the Sanford ER in Thief River Falls by the Red Lake Falls Ambulance to be treated for serious injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured. The Minnesota State Patrol is leading the crash investigation, which is ongoing.
