On the afternoon of 04/25/25, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a dog running loose on Main Ave. in Red Lake Falls. A Red Lake County deputy located and captured the dog, and it was taken to the Pound in Thief River Falls. Later the same afternoon, two dogs were running loose around the Courthouse parking lot in Red Lake Falls. They were on their way to the Pound in Thief River Falls, when a visitor at the Courthouse reported the dogs had jumped out of their vehicle. The deputy returned the dogs to the owner.
On the afternoon of 04/25/25, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about trespassing on property in Red Lake Falls Township. That report remains under investigation.
On the evening of 04/25/25, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an incident that occurred on a Red Lake Falls School Bus. That matter was referred to the school district for further investigation into that report.
On the evening of 04/25/25, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an individual trespassing at a location in the city of Plummer. A Red Lake County deputy served that individual a trespass notice and they were advised to stay off of that particular property.
On the evening of 04/26/25, a Red Lake County deputy responded to a report of a truck traveling on Hwy. #92, east of Hwy. #32, without any headlights illuminating. The deputy located and stopped the vehicle. The driver claimed they were having mechanical issues so the deputy escorted the truck into the Red Lake Falls Cenex parking lot so repairs could be made.
On the afternoon of 04/27/25, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an ATV that appeared to be abandoned on private property near the Red Lake River north of Red Lake Falls. A Red Lake County deputy spoke with the landowner, and they were aware of the ATV, and they are working with the owner of the ATV to get it removed.
On the afternoon of 04/28/25, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported that Dustann Katya Bethea (32) of Fargo, posted $100 cash bail at their office to satisfy an active misdemeanor warrant that was held by Red Lake County. Ms. Bethea was released from custody, and she was scheduled to appear in Court in Red Lake Falls on 05/07/25.
On 04/28/25, Jason Wayne Malwitz (51) of Plummer was cited for misdemeanor careless driving. An ongoing investigation revealed that Mr. Malwitz drove a vehicle into the ditch along 240th Ave. SE, east of Plummer on the evening of 04/18/25. He will be summonsed to appear in Court in Red Lake Falls sometime in May of 2025.
In the early morning hours of 04/29/25, a Red Lake County deputy responded to Hwy. #59, north of Plummer near the Pennington County line, where a vehicle had struck a horse. The horse was killed, the vehicle was totally damaged, but the driver was not injured. There were also other horses running loose near the scene. The owner of the horses was contacted to round them up. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The crash actually occurred in Pennington County so a Pennington County Deputy and a State Trooper, who also responded to the scene will continue with the crash investigation.
On the morning of 04/29/25, a Red Lake County deputy responded to a Red Lake Falls residence to assist a parent who was having issues with an unruly child. The involved parties were counseled, and the situation was mediated.
On 04/29/25, the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office reported they had Jeremy Dean Brown (50) of Blackduck in their custody and he was ready to be released. Red Lake County held an active gross misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. A Red Lake County deputy went to Bemidji and transported Mr. Brown to the jail in Crookston. He appeared in Court in Crookston on 05/01/25 and remains in custody.
On the morning of 04/30/25, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of horses running loose near CR. #7 east of Hwy. #59. The owners of the horses were notified, and they were able to get them rounded up.
On the afternoon of 04/30/25, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft of property in the city of Plummer. That report remains under investigation.
On the morning of 05/01/25, a Red Lake County deputy spoke with a property owner who wanted to trespass some unwelcome individuals. A trespass notice was drafted and served upon the unwanted parties.
