PUBLIC INFORMATION – BE ON LOOKOUT
The Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports today of scam phone calls. Scammers have been calling local residents claiming that a family member is in jail and needs bail money.
A party involved in the scam was last seen in the Red Lake Falls on 3rd St SW at approximately 4:30 p.m. He was described as a tall, african-american male in his late 20’s or early 30’s wearing dark clothing, a black jacket with possibly an underarmour logo on the chest, a blue facemask, and a stocking hat. He was seen driving a dark blue smaller SUV. In this case, the individual went to a person’s home claiming to be a bailiff to accept a large sum of bond money.

These scammers will often try to get their victims to keep the information a secret.
