News Release – 7/26/2024

On the evening of 07/19/24, Vernon Graham Altiman (63) of Duluth was cited for speeding on Hwy. #59 south of Brooks.

On the afternoon of 07/20/24, a Red Lake County deputy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on CR. #13 west of Red Lake Falls. During the interaction with the driver, the deputy discovered they had been consuming alcohol. The driver was a juvenile and the deputy released them into the custody of a sober adult, with the consent of a parent. The juvenile will be criminally charged with minor consumption of alcohol while driving.

On the evening of 07/20/24, a Red Lake Falls resident reported a theft of property. That report is still under investigation.

In the early morning hours of 07/21/24, the Roseau County Sheriff’s Office reported they had arrested Jeremy Dean Brown (49) of Red Lake Falls. Red Lake County held an active gross misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. Red Lake County placed a hold on Mr. Brown. On 07/25/24, he posted $100 cash bail and was released from custody. He is scheduled to appear in Court in Red Lake Falls later this month.

On the afternoon of 07/21/24, Brandon Richard Kroll (21) of Argyle was cited for speeding on CR. #13 west of Red Lake Falls.

On the afternoon of 07/21/24, Landen Paul Loyd (21) of Pitkin, LA was cited for speeding on CR. #13 west of Red Lake Falls.

On the evening of 07/21/24, an Oklee resident reported receiving harassing and threatening messages on their phone. A Red Lake County deputy spoke with the reporting party and advice was given.

On the evening of 07/21/24, Sarah Nancy Atellah (29) of Grand Forks was cited for speeding on CR. #13 west of Red Lake Falls.

On the evening of 07/21/24, Red Lake County deputies responded to an alarm at the E&J Grocery Store in Oklee. The alarm indicated there was a burglary in progress. When deputies arrived, they observed a male running south, from the store, along Main St. They also observed suspected stolen items dropping to the ground while he attempted to flee the scene. They were able to apprehend the individual, but he did brandish a knife and a Taser was deployed by a deputy. Cody Eldene Landrus (33) of Brooks was arrested, taken to jail in Crookston and he was booked for felony burglary, felony threats of violence and felony damage to property. Mr. Landrus appeared in Court in Crookston on 07/23/24. He was ordered to pay $2,000 cash bail and abide by several court-ordered conditions to be released. He remains in custody at the time of this news release. Further investigation into the incident revealed that Mr. Landrus was aided in this crime by Brenton Troy Gerholdt (39) of Oklee. Mr. Gerholdt was arrested on the afternoon of 07/23/24. He was taken to jail in Crookston and was booked for aiding in a felony burglary.

On 07/22/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report that an individual had issued checks to the Brooks Cenex and their account was inactive. That report remains under investigation.

On the evening of 07/22/24, Logan Bruce Rayner (23) of Finley, ND was cited for speeding on CR. #1 east of Red Lake Falls.

On the morning of 07/24/24, the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office reported they arrested Arthur James Paulson (64) of Grand Forks. Red Lake County holds an active misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. On 07/25/24, Mr. Paulson was released from Grand Forks and he was transported to jail in Crookston by a Red Lake County deputy.

On the afternoon of 07/24/24, a Red Lake Falls resident made a complaint that someone has been trespassing on their property. Advice was given and the suspect has been notified not to trespass again or they will be cited for the offense.

On the afternoon of 07/24/24, Roger Dale Ballard Jr. (45) of Battle Creek, MI was cited for speeding on Hwy. #59 north of Plummer.

On the evening of 0724/24, a Red Lake County deputy responded to a report of an altercation at the Voyageur’s View Campground. The deputy found parties involved in a verbal dispute, but identified three individuals, who were involved, were under the age of twenty-one and they had been consuming alcohol. Elizabeth Rose Kingbird (19) of Red Lake was cited for misdemeanor minor consumption. Two additional juveniles from Red Lake will also be summoned to juvenile court to face charges of minor consumption of alcohol. The deputy waited at the scene until the juvenile’s guardian arrived and they were released.

On the evening of 07/24/24, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office reported they had arrested Justin Lee Armstrong (46) of Euclid. Red Lake County holds a gross misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. Pennington County indicated they also have criminal charges pending against him, and he will be released to Red Lake County authorities once those matters are settled.

On the evening of 07/25/24, Chase Anthony Pierce (18) of Fosston was cited for failing to yield right of way for an emergency vehicle on Hwy. #59 in Plummer.
