News Release – 6/28/2024
On the afternoon of 06/20/24, a Construction Crew, working in Red Lake Falls, reported they struck a gas line near Main Ave. They were able to shut the line down, so it was not leaking or posing a danger to the public. The Red Lake Falls Fire Department and City Maintenance Crews responded to inspect the damage and ensure it was no longer leaking.
On the morning of 06/21/24, there were some cattle running loose near the intersection of CR. #1 and Hwy. #59 in Plummer. The owner of the cattle was notified, and the cattle were rounded up and put back into their pasture.
On the afternoon of 06/21/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an assault that occurred in the city of Plummer. A female reported she was assaulted by an ex, while they were inside of a moving vehicle. The suspect left the area prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Evidence was gathered and some witnesses were interviewed. Later that same afternoon, Justin Michael Schue (41) of Red Lake Falls was arrested at a Red Lake Falls residence. He was taken to jail in Crookston and booked for gross misdemeanor domestic assault. Mr. Schue appeared in Court in Crookston on 06/24/24. He was released with Court-ordered conditions, including to not have any contact with the victim.
On the evening of 06/21/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible intoxicated driver in Equality Township, northeast of Oklee. A Red Lake County deputy located the suspect vehicle and stopped it in Polk County. A Polk County deputy was summoned to the scene, and the investigation was turned over to their agency.
On the evening of 06/21/24, a Red Lake Falls resident reported a bear in their yard. This was on the north side of Red Lake Falls. A Red Lake County deputy responded, but the bear was gone when they arrived.
On the evening of 06/21/24, an Oklee resident reported individuals trespassing on their property. Red Lake County deputies responded and found the suspects had left prior to their arrival. The suspects were later located, and they were counseled.
On the afternoon of 06/23/24, a Red Lake Falls resident reported they were having issues with an ex, and they wanted to speak to a deputy. The issues were not criminal, so the reporting party was counseled, and advice was given.
On the morning of 06/24/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a loose dog causing some issues in Oklee. A Red Lake County deputy went to the dog owner’s residence. The dog was in a secure enclosure when the deputy arrived. The owner was counseled and warned about allowing the public nuisance.
On the evening of 06/24/24, Alexander Soto (22) of Arkansas City, KS was cited for speeding on CR. #49 east of Hwy. #32.
On the evening of 06/25/24, another northside Red Lake Falls resident reported a bear in their yard. They claimed it was eating from a bird feeder. The bear left the area prior to the deputy’s arrival. On the morning of 06/27/24, another north-side Red Lake Falls resident reported a bear had been in their garbage. Residents should be aware that bird feeders and garbage bags containing food waste may attract unwanted critters and they should be taken down and put away each evening to help prevent these encounters.
On the evening of 06/27/24, Red Lake County deputies responded to report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in Lambert Township. They spoke with the involved parties and determined that no crimes were committed. Individuals were counseled and the situation was mediated.
