News Release 05/17/24

On the afternoon of 05/10/24, Red Lake County deputies spoke with individuals involved in a property line dispute in the city of Oklee. It appears that the matter has been resolved.

On the evening of 05/10/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of trespassing on agricultural land in Gervais Township. That report remains under investigation.

On the evening of 05/10/24, a Red Lake County deputy stopped a vehicle on Main Ave. in Red Lake Falls for an equipment violation. Investigation during the stop revealed that the driver, Jesse Frank Lunak (44) of Thief River Falls, appeared to be under the influence of illegal controlled substances. Mr. Lunak was arrested, taken to jail in Crookston and was booked for misdemeanor DUI. He was released from custody the following morning. He will be summonsed to appear in Court in Red Lake Falls at a later date.

On the afternoon of 05/12/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft of property from a location in Wylie Township. Red Lake County deputies spoke with some possible suspects and neighbors and the property was returned the following morning. The victim did not want any criminal charges pursued and the matter was resolved.

On the evening of 05/12/24, Red Lake County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a Louisville Township residence. It was determined that no crimes had been committed. The involved parties were counseled, and the incident was mediated.

On the afternoon of 05/14/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received two complaints about city ordinance violations in the city of Red Lake Falls. It was alleged that someone was burning garbage in a barrel in their yard and another individual had a large amount of trash in their yard that was blowing loosely around the neighborhood. A Red Lake County deputy spoke with the parties who were creating the nuisances, and the issues were remedied.

On the evening of 05/14/24, Kari Dawn Hitchen (49) of Winger was cited for speeding on CR. #5 in the city of Oklee.

On the morning of 05/15/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft of property from a location in Red Lake Falls. That investigation is ongoing.

On the afternoon of 05/15/24, a Plummer resident reported they were being harassed by another individual. That report remains under investigation.
