News Release 05-10-24
On the morning of 05/03/24, a Red Lake County deputy responded to a report of a “fender bender” at the Eagle Square Parking Lot in Red Lake Falls. One of the vehicles was backing out of a parking space and struck another vehicle. One of the involved vehicles sustained substantial damage but there were no injuries. Crash report information was given to both drivers.
On the evening of 05/03/24, an individual reported they had a dispute with an employee at the Dollar General Store in Red Lake Falls over a disputed amount of cash paid for phone cards. A Red Lake County deputy looked into the matter, and it was determined to be a civil disagreement between an individual and the store. They were advised they needed to remedy this situation on their own.
On the afternoon of 05/05/24, a Red Lake Falls business owner reported they received a threatening phone message from a customer. It was determined the threats were not criminal and the business owner was advised they could trespass the disgruntled customer if they wished.
On the afternoon of 05/07/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a Lake Pleasant Township resident who claimed a man walked into their yard and he appeared to be intoxicated. Red Lake County deputies responded and found Joshua Edward Hagl (27) of Mentor, at the residence. They discovered that he was under the influence of alcohol, and he had driven his car into the ditch, along Hwy. #32 south of Red Lake Falls. Mr. Hagl also had a loaded pistol inside of his vehicle. He was arrested, taken to jail in Crookston and he was booked for gross misdemeanor DWI and misdemeanor illegal transportation of a firearm in a motor vehicle. Mr. Hagl appeared in court in Crookston on 05/09/24. He was ordered to pay $1,000 case bail to be released with court ordered conditions. His next court appearance in Red Lake Falls was scheduled for 05/22/24.
On the afternoon of 05/07/24, a Red Lake County deputy attempted to mediate a dispute about a dog running loose into a yard adjacent to their owners’. The owner was spoken to and warned about the ordinance violation.
On the evening of 05/08/24, a Brooks resident reported their child left their residence without permission and they were worried about their safety. While responders were on their way to help locate the child, the child returned home.
On the evening of 05/08/24, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office reported they had arrested Kyle Travis Edgar (40) of Red Lake Falls. Red Lake County held an active felony warrant for Mr. Edgar’s arrest. Mr. Edgar had been charged with fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle from an incident that occurred in Red Lake Falls on 03/12/24. Pennington County also has criminal charges against Mr. Edgar pending and he will be released to Red Lake County once those matters are settled.
On the morning of 05/09/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a break-in at a location in Plummer. That incident remains under investigation.
