In the early morning hours of 12/25/20, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office reported one of their deputies was pursuing a vehicle that was refusing to stop. They were approaching Red Lake County on Hwy. #32. Red Lake County deputies responded to the area to assist. The involved officers lost sight of the vehicle near Hwy. #59, north of Plummer. The suspect vehicle drove off the road, through fields and even jumped the railroad tracks during the pursuit. Shortly after losing sight of the vehicle, Red Lake County Dispatch received a 911 call from a resident in Plummer who saw two people exit a vehicle and flee on foot, near the intersection of Minnesota St. and Healy Ave. Thief River Falls Police Department brought down their K-9 Unit to attempt to track the suspects, but they were unsuccessful. The vehicle was towed from the scene, but the suspects remain at large. The matter is still under investigation.
On the afternoon of 12/25/20, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a disturbance at a residence in Plummer. A Red Lake County deputy responded and investigated the incident. Diane Kae Vasilakes (67) of Plummer was cited for misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
On the afternoon of 12/25/20, Randy Lee Brosseau (35) of Red Lake Falls was released from the Pennington County jail and turned over to Red Lake County authorities. He was taken to the jail in Crookston. He was booked into the jail on an outstanding felony warrant. Mr. Brosseau appeared in Court in Crookston on 12/28/20. The Court ordered that he post a $2,000 cash bond prior to his release. At this time he is still in custody.
On the evening of 12/25/20, a Red Lake County deputy conducted a traffic stop in the city of Brooks. Marijuana was discovered inside of the vehicle and Christopher Neil Steinhauer (44) of Thief River Falls was cited for petty misdemeanor possession of a small amount of marijuana in a motor vehicle.
On the afternoon of 12/27/20, Caitlynn Mari Ek (23) of Oklee was cited for misdemeanor driving after revocation on CR. #5 north of Oklee.
On 12/28/20 and 12/30/20, several vehicles were cited for violating the Winter Parking Ordinances in the city of Red Lake Falls.
On the afternoon of 12/30/20, the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office to inform them that Derek Edward Gould (35) of Bemidji was going to be released from their jail. Red Lake County holds an active felony warrant for him. On 12/31/20, Mr. Gould was released to Red Lake County authorities and he was transported to the jail in Crookston. He will remain in custody until he can make a court appearance next week.
On the evening of 12/30/20, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of suspicious activity by the library in Red Lake Falls. A Red Lake County deputy responded to investigate the report. Hugh James Kurpierz (64) of Red Lake Falls was questioned at the scene. It was discovered that Polk County held an active misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. Mr. Kurpierz posted a $100 cash bond to satisfy the warrant and was released from custody.
