Public Safety Reminder
We would like to remind all area residents not to give personal information out over the telephone or by e-mail unless its to a known and trusted source. There are many forms of telephone and on line scams. Some inform you that you won the lottery, some represent themselves as being from a government agency, some claim to be a grand child needing bail money. This list goes on and on. Please use caution.
Parents, please try periodically monitor what you children are sending out in Social media apps that they use. Urge them to use caution with on line strangers and remind them that whatever they post on the internet is forever part of the web. Also remind them that it is never OK for them to share explicit photographs.
So many of these scams far exceed the jurisdictional capabilities of local Law Enforcement.
