News Release 12-30-22

On 12/23/22, a formal criminal complaint was filed, charging Oscar Alfredo Alfaro (39) of Red Lake Falls with two counts of felony criminal sexual conduct. The complaint alleges Mr. Alfaro engaged in sexual acts with a female, who was under the age of 14, in Red Lake County, on multiple occasions in the spring of 2022. He is currently in custody at the jail in Crookston. Mr. Alfaro has made an initial court appearance and cash bail was set at $7,500. His next court appearance will be in January of 2023.

Over the Christmas Holiday weekend, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received several calls about vehicles stuck in the deep snow or in the ditch. Red Lake County deputies provided assistance to motorists throughout the County. Fortunately, no injuries resulted from any of these incidents.

In the early morning hours of 12/28/22, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported Leland Lyman Jeanotte (25) of Brooks, had been arrested in East Grand Forks. Red Lake County held an active gross misdemeanor warrant for a harassment/restraining order violation that had occurred in November of 2020. Mr. Jeanotte also has criminal charges pending in Polk County. He appeared in Court in Crookston on 12/29/22. Cash bail was set at $750 and he remains in custody at the time of this release. His next court appearance was set for 01/05/23.

On 12/29/22, an individual reported that a neighbor had piled snow on the street in front of their driveway in Red Lake Falls. The report remains under investigation.
