NEWS RELEASE 09-22-23
On the evening of 09/15/23, Red Lake County deputies responded to a report of a domestic at a Red Lake Falls residence. One of the involved parties had left the residence prior to the deputy’s arrival. By the next day, the investigating deputy had spoken with both of the individuals who were involved in the dispute. This case remains under investigation.
On the morning of 09/16/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a severely damaged vehicle, in the ditch along Hwy. #92 west of Brooks. A Red Lake County deputy and a Minnesota State Trooper responded to the scene and found the vehicle was unoccupied. The owner was located and told the officers that the crash occurred overnight, and nobody was injured. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
On the morning of 09/16/23, a Red Lake Falls resident requested to speak with a deputy about trespassing another individual from their property. Advice was given.
On the afternoon of 09/16/23, Peter Walter Mooney (44) of Fisher was cited for speeding on CR. #11 west of Red Lake Falls.
On the afternoon of 09/16/23, a Red Lake County deputy spoke with two individuals who were involved in a child custody dispute. Advice was given and the matter was mediated.
On the evening of 09/16/23, Seth Anthony Sodon (19) of Thief River Falls was cited for speeding on Hwy. #59 north of Plummer.
On the evening of 09/16/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a disturbance at a campsite at Sportsman’s Park in Red Lake Falls. Investigation revealed that two co-workers were involved in a brawl/fight at that location. Nico Dean White (30) of Sisseton, SD and Bud Lone Eagle (29) of Sisseton, SD were both cited for misdemeanor disorderly conduct, and they were separated for the night.
On the morning of 09/18/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible harassment restraining order violation. Investigation revealed that the order had not been violated and the matter was closed.
On the afternoon of 09/18/23, Eagle Square reported there was a man sleeping in a pickup truck that was parked at their gas pumps. Red Lake County law enforcement officers responded and found Larry Dean Mahan Jr. (39) of La Porte, TX inside of the described vehicle. Investigation revealed that Mr. Mahan appeared to be under the influence of illegal controlled substances. He was arrested, taken to jail in Crookston and was booked for misdemeanor DUI, misdemeanor marijuana open package violation, and misdemeanor no valid driver’s license. The vehicle was returned to Mr. Mahan’s employer. He appeared in Court in Crookston on 09/19/23 and he was released with court-ordered conditions. His next hearing was scheduled for 10/11/23 in Red Lake Falls.
On the evening of 09/18/23, a Red Lake County deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at an Oklee residence. The deputy counseled several individuals at the home and the situation was mediated.
On the afternoon of 09/21/23, Red Lake County deputies assisted Beltrami County investigators with the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Brooks. The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office seized some personal property. No arrests were made and the matter remains under investigation.
