06-02-23 News Release

On the evening of 05/26/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a Red Lake Falls resident who claimed that another individual had locked them out of the apartment they live in. They claimed they had been locked out for several hours. A Red Lake County deputy responded and the female suspect, Patricia Ann Bren (41) of Oklee, agreed to open the door. She was arrested, taken to jail in Crookston, and was booked for misdemeanor trespass. Ms. Bren was released from custody the following day.

On the evening of 05/26/23, Mattlyn Marie Erickson (25) of Thief River Falls was cited for speeding on CR. #1 east of Plummer.

On the afternoon of 05/27/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a collision, involving two vehicles, behind the Hardware Hank in Red Lake Falls. There were no injuries, but both vehicles were damaged. A crash investigation was completed, and no citations were issued.

On the afternoon of 05/27/23, Bernice Laraye McKeever (57) of Erskine was cited for speeding on Hwy. #32 south of Red Lake Falls.

On the afternoon of 05/27/23, a Red Lake County deputy and the Red Lake Falls Ambulance were dispatched to a report of an ATV crash in the Klondike area of Red Lake Falls. An ATV was westbound on Bottineau Ave. and when it went around a curve, the adult male driver lost control, and it rolled. The driver was transported to the Sanford ER in Thief River Falls to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

On the evening of 05/27/23, Elizabeth Ashley Oppegaard (35) of Erskine was cited for speeding on CR. #1 east of Plummer.

On the evening of 05/27/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of vandalism at the bathrooms in Lion’s Park in Plummer. That report is still under investigation.

On the evening of 05/28/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic disturbance involving an unruly child at a Red Lake Falls residence. A Red Lake County deputy responded, counseled the child, and mediated the situation.

On the evening of 05/28/23, the Oklee Fire Department and the Oklee Ambulance were dispatched to a fire in a house in Oklee. The fire was extinguished by the homeowner prior to the arrival of emergency crews. The damage to the home was minimal and an electrical issue appeared to be the cause.

Shortly after midnight on 05/29/23, a Red Lake County deputy stopped a golf cart in Red Lake Falls for illegal operation on the snowmobile trail on the north side of Red Lake Falls. The driver of the golf cart, Joseph Demetrio Berberena (30) of Red Lake Falls was cited for the city ordinance violation, and illegal operation of a golf cart, and the passenger, Jay Allen Peterson (22) of Red Lake Falls was cited for misdemeanor open container.

On the evening of 05/29/23, Adam Thomas Nelson (37) of Beltrami was cited for misdemeanor improper motor vehicle registration on Hwy. #32 south of Red Lake Falls.

On the morning of 05/30/23, a Red Lake Falls resident and their teenage daughter came to the Sheriff’s Office to speak with a deputy about concerning and inappropriate activity on their daughter’s cellphone. The juvenile was counseled, and the matter remains under investigation.

On the afternoon of 05/30/23, a Red Lake County deputy assisted with a property exchange in Gervais Township.

In the early morning hours of 06/01/23, a Red Lake Falls resident claimed they had received some threatening messages on their cellphone from another individual. That report remains under investigation.
